E-Books

These e-books compile posts published on this blog, and my writing from other venues, on various subjects.  I will try to add to them periodically.

The e-books are published under Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND.  You may download, copy, and distribute them, unaltered, in any format, so long as you do so for non-commercial purposes and attribute the work to me.

I made these ebooks using the editor tool on Calibre 1.35.  If there are any formatting or viewing issues, please leave a comment below and I will try to fix them.
  • The Science Fiction Novels of Iain M. Banks - reviews of Banks's Culture sequence and other SF novels, published here and on Strange Horizons between 2005 and 2015.

  • Back Through the Wormhole: Deep Space Nine Revisited - a series of essays about the best Star Trek series, published here in early 2008.

  • Let's See What's Out There: Star Trek: The Next Generation Revisited - a series of essays about The Next Generation, published here in 2011.

  • Austen and Friends: Writings on Jane Austen and Related Topics - reviews of Austen's novels, adaptations, other 19th century literature, and para-literature.

Two ebook compilations I'd love to see would be your "Through the Wormhole" series, and all your Austen essays. I come back to those again and again, and I think handy collections of those would be fantastic :)

Hi Abigail,
Relatively new to your blog, and just wanted to say thanks for the essays, esp Back Through The Wormhole. Haven't read them yet (just downloaded it) - but a quick look at the contents tells me there's someone else in the world that thinks Majoy Kira Nerys was an awesome character (I pitched an episode about her but never got anywhere!). And finally, just finding somebody else on the planet that recognises Deep Space Nine as being one of the very best Star Trek series is plain fabulous - you have my full support on that! Thank you sooooo much!

I think there's definitely been a revival of appreciation for DS9, Alex. Star Trek fans in particular seem to value it, but I also think that genre fans in general recognize how special it was.

Hello,
It might just be a problem on my end, but when I try to access any of the ebooks but the Iain Banks one (I'm looking to download your Austen epub, but checked the others to see if the problem persisted) I get an error message from Google: "Error 403. We're sorry, but you do not have access to this page."
